Housecall Pro vs FieldPulse (2026): Which Fits Your Trade?
We'd put Housecall Pro on most trucks by default and save FieldPulse for teams that need a custom-built, sales-assisted setup.
Housecall Pro and FieldPulse both want to be the operating system for your trade business — scheduling, quoting, invoicing, dispatch, the works. The difference isn’t features on a checklist, it’s how each company sells and builds for you. One publishes real prices and lets you self-serve. The other wants a phone call. That alone tells you a lot about who each is built for.
Our quick take
- Housecall Pro: Our default pick for most solo operators and small-to-mid trade businesses — transparent pricing, a mature app, and a plan that scales with you without a sales rep gatekeeping every step.
- FieldPulse: Worth it if you’ve got a multi-crew, multi-trade operation and want software that gets configured around you rather than the other way around — but be ready to negotiate, not click “buy.”
Pricing
Housecall Pro publishes real numbers: Basic runs $59/mo billed annually (1 user), Essentials is $149/mo (5 users, $100/mo per additional user), and Max is custom-quoted for bigger operations that need routing, flat-rate pricing, and API/Zapier access. There’s a 14-day free trial, no credit card required. (As of Sept 2026 — verify on their site since these tiers shift.)
FieldPulse doesn’t publish pricing at all. It’s explicitly seat-based and “customized to your team size and setup” — meaning you talk to sales to get a number. That’s not necessarily a red flag, but it does mean you can’t quickly compare cost against Housecall Pro without picking up the phone.

Who should pick which
Housecall Pro is the pick for the plumber, electrician, HVAC tech, or cleaning company that wants to sign up today, see the price before they commit, and get running this week. It’s mature, it’s got a huge user base, and the tiers make sense as you add trucks. If you’re a one-to-ten person operation, this is almost always the safer default.
FieldPulse makes more sense if you’re running a larger, multi-trade or franchise-style operation where a generic tiered plan doesn’t fit — you want someone to build out licensing and seats around your actual org chart, and you’re fine with a sales conversation before you see a number. It’s not for the contractor who just wants to swipe a card and start scheduling jobs tonight.
What we’d do
For the vast majority of contractors reading this — solo to mid-size crews — we’d go with Housecall Pro. Clear pricing, a trial you can actually kick the tires on, and a plan structure that doesn’t force you into a sales call just to see what it costs. If you’re a bigger, more complex operation with enough scale to justify custom seat licensing and you don’t mind negotiating pricing, get FieldPulse on the phone — just go in with Housecall Pro’s numbers as your benchmark.
